More than 10 million mobile banking customers of Lloyds will be able to see the exact location of their debit card transactions as the bank fights back against fraudsters.
App users with the country’s biggest bank will be able to click on a transaction and see its location on Google Maps, allowing them to identify fraudulent activity more easily.
Fraudsters who clone cards often use them in other areas of the country. So if cards were used in a supermarket or other chain, it would not be immediately apparent from a bank statement.
Lloyds is the first bank to introduce this capability. About 10 million Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland customers use the mobile banking app.
